Rain Screens
A rainscreen is an exterior wall cladding system that stands off the build structural wall surface providing a ventilation space that allows the building to breathe. The building structural wall is covered with a breathable weather barrier that allows moisture to escape from the building interior. A sub frame is installed, creating the venting space. The final exterior finish panel is then installed over the sub frame. Rain is allowed to penetrate the outer panel, draining safely out at the bottom of the wall. Rainscreens convective airflow patterns that help keep buildings cool and dry. The exterior rainscreen panels can be made of many different types of materials ranging from aluminum composite, fiber-cement, phenolic resin, wood-resin composite and natural wood, to name a few. Parklex™, Trespa™, Swisspearl™ are examples of a few rainscreen panel manufacturers.
